ouch.
Wow. First time I’ve read something written about me that makes me want to cry.
Not in the good way.
fuck.
Some asshole stole my fucking bike.
Now, in Toronto, this is not such an uncommon thing; most people have a few bikes stolen in their cycling careers. The thing that makes this different? They stole it from INSIDE MY GARAGE, in a suburban neighbourhood with quite a quiet street.
The garage is a double, but with two separate doors, of which only one was open. In front of the garage are two minivans, parked a bit close to together (can’t ride down between them). The bike was at the back of the garage wedged in behind a stack of chairs with additional stuff piled on. There is lots of other stuff in the garage which was not touched.
Just my bike.
I accidentally left the garage open after coming home from gardening today; I opened it to put stuff in, then had to take some stuff around to the front door and went inside the house that way, forgetting to close the garage – I’m usually very very good about closing it (as in, I can’t remember ever forgetting). I remembered and closed the garage door a few hours later without noticing anything. As I was tidying up to get ready for bed, I opened the door to the garage (from inside the house) to check it, and looked down the stairs to think…huh. Something’s wrong here. Went down and looked around….my bike was gone. Nothing else.
It wasn’t a very expensive or fancy bike, but I really liked it. And it was barely used, really – I got it last summer.
At least I got a good 30k ride out of it on Friday.
Fuck. I don’t get people.
a very strange email

Shiny new blog
Welcome to the new and improved cosmicpluto knits! Excuse the dust, I’m still renovating.
distraction
I’ve been working on the Corset Pullover, but I seem to have gotten distracted by some beautiful Silk Garden (colourway 211)…
It’s just a top-down cardi from my pattern, but with seed stitch edging and it’ll have some waist shaping, as well. I’ve figured that I want the waist minimum to be about 6 inches below the underarm, so I figure I’ll just decrease every inch or so till there.
Anyway, so here’s the progress on the corset – I’m done the front and a sleeve. I’ll get started ont he back shortly, and it looks like I’ll have enough yarn, I hope!
I love the sleeve!
I’ve got a ton of stuff to do this weekend, and today I dare not turn on the TV for fear of being sucked into the CSI marathon – it would result in a lot of sitting around and knitting, which can be great, but I really do have schoolwork to do. Have a good day off!
our eyes are bigger than our needles
Title courtesy of the brillant and beautiful Cari. You know how I wasn’t going to buy yarn?
Yeah…no.
I swear I didn’t mean to copy Kelly, but you know what they say about great minds
. Anyway, I got 5 skeins of Silk Garden, two of Jawoll cotton sock yarn, and a copy of last fall’s Phildar Tendances, all at 30% off. MMM, silk garden.
I think I may have left one behind. And now that I’ve pretty much decided that I want to make a top-down cardi, I may have to go back and get it tomorrow. I should call ahead though, just to make sure that there is actually one left…
I may have also bought yarn from Camilla Valley Farm for the Gibson Girl pullover and some summer tops. Oops.
Ahem. Anyway, I’ve been working on the Corset Pullover and it’s coming along nicely.
My competitive side wants to finish the sweater before Cari. But that’s not nice! I really must try to not think about that. Anyway, the lengthening seems to be working out, but the real test will come when I machine wash this baby.
Welcome!
