With the leftovers from the socks, I whipped up an earband this week – I just LOVE those cables, and this should hold me over until I make a new hat! Not that it’s actually been cold out or anything, it’s supposed to go up to 6C tomorrow.

Patterns for both the socks and earband are mine, and will be published soon.

One pair of long, thick socks in Dream in Color Classy, colour Cocoa Kiss – a perfect blend of grey and brown. So cushy, too! I worked these on 3.25mm needles for a good dense fabric, over 52 sts. You can’t see in the photo, but I continued the ribbing down the back of the heel flap as well.

In my mind, I’m seeing these on my fella as we hang out in our rented house with friends, warding off the chill with warm alcoholic drinks and lots of cheese-related foods. (I do know that it’s forecast to be pretty warm next weekend. Don’t burst my bubble!)

And my Rhinebeck project?

Well. I still have a week, right?

P.S. Stay tuned – I have a new pattern and a pattern sale coming up!

Yikes, I didn’t realize it was SO close until I counted! Rhiiiiiiinebeck!

I’ve made pretty good progress on that second Rhinebeck sweater, though -

I’m past the yoke divide and I’m about halfway through the waist decreases. I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out – the yarn is so pretty, and it knits up fast because it’s aran weight! The other one, well, it’s still quite a blob. We shall see how much knitting I get in the next 2 weeks…there’s so much else I have to do!

I’m also working on a pair of Rhinebeck socks, not for me but for my fella – they’re out of Dream in Color Classy, so they’ll be cozy and warm for wearing while hanging out at the house we’re renting.

They’re really, really long too. How long?

13″ from the top of the cuff to the bottom of the heel flap. It’s a good thing these are worsted weight, they’re still going pretty quickly! I might need to use a bit of a second skein of yarn though, because they’re so long.

Also! I’m having a destash sale to make room for Rhinebeck purchases, so if you’re in the market for some awesome yarn, take a look and email me at cosmicpluto at cosmicpluto dot com if you’re interested in taking anything off my hands.

I’ve been knitting and knitting, and though things are coming off my needles pretty well, I just haven’t been very good at photographing them (or weaving in ends).

I did, however, manage to knit up this pair of socks for my fella pretty quickly before it started getting cool at night.

1 skein of Malabrigo Sock in Cote D’Azure, which is just a really perfect navy with just a bit of variation. Of course, though I got both socks out of one skein, they look pretty different from each other! One is much more solid. Anyway, I knit this on 2mm needles, my standard top-down, gusset heel pattern over 72 stitches in 3×1 ribbing.

I do have lots of new patterns coming up, including some fun and quick accessories that I’m really pleased with! One of which is out of these luscious yarns:

(The Fibre Company Road to China Light)

Mmmmmm. I looooove knitting with this yarn!

Whew. Between working on setting up my new apartment, working at lettuce knit, working on my own stuff, and enjoying the summer food and general enjoyment, it’s been a busy month! The barest hint of fall is in the air, though it’s still pretty warm during the daytime, and I’ve been knitting bits and pieces on tons of projects.

Time for some photos!

Living room – before

Living room – after, with my new chair from Design Republic.

Bedroom – after

Foods! Scallion pancakes with scallions from the farmer’s market – so, so delicious. The dipping sauce is stellar too.

Tiny peach pies! I didn’t have enough peaches for a full pie (because I’ve been eating so many of them) so I made a few minis instead, in a muffin tin.

Knitting? Sure. I’ve been nuts for a tubular cast on.

In Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock:
